he is 7 months old!

Time is just zooming pass so fast when you have a little baby to care for and to see them grow up is just priceless. Well, of course there are some hiccups along the way:-
1. Breastfeeding – still the no. 1 favorite topic, to Bf or not to Bf? The longer I have been breastfeeding, the heavier the heart for me to let go… it is the guilt and the what-ifs that is making it so hard to wean off, it will happen, when baby and I are ready.
2. Falling ill – believe it or not, it may be as simple as slight flu but when my little darling is not well, it feels like the end of the world. He had a slight nose block @ 3 months and I still remember how we rush him over to the ER because I was paranoid he might not be able to breathe… the ER doctor actually gave me a very cynical remark that we came all the way for a nose block! Well, we are new parents, as long as he is not well, we go to the hospital! Simple as that. :)

He actually caught with slight flu and cough for the last 2 days, hopefully he feels better soon. Just before this, it was diarrhea and it went on for 2weeks! *tired*

3. Weaning and solids – He is so far taking sweet potato, milk cereal, rice cereal and pumpkin quite well now. Next on the list, broccoli, carrot, spinach!
By 8th month, hopefully he can enjoy combinations of food like carrot soup and rice, or brocolli and pasta ;)

4. Discipline – Whats the right age to start disciplining a child? 6 months? One year? There are times where we know he is just bullying us like wanting to be carried or wanting to play during bedtime but should we start to punish? How do we start and what is acceptably light punishment for little darlings? When he cries, my heart aches :S. But there is a guideline given by my dearest uncle; 1 year old; 1 min timeout, 2 years, 2 mins timeout and so on… I guess as parents, we’ll be the best to know whats suitable punishments for his mischieve!

For now, he is still such a darling smiley little baby. MUAKS!

Ur nose block story is so farnee… but tat’s the joy of being the new parent. Hahah

Dicipline is a very difficult topic. Diff kids need diff approach. U can get some books and refer but not all applicable. Im able to practice time out but…dont think he understand even i try to explain…

You have a blog too! Welcome to the blogging world :)

Breastfeeding – I told myself that six months were the maximum I would do it but I only officially weaned him off at 18 months. The expeirence and journey is way too rewarding. Even until now, E would still talk about ‘nen nen’ fondly. Weaning off the breasts is another tough journey, especially if your baby is very attached to them. When the time comes and you’re really ready, let me know and I’ll share a sure-fire trick to wean :D

Starting solids – Already? Time flies, man! Are the containers I bought for him last time of any good use? ;)

Discipline – No laaa, he’s too young to be disciplined. The way I see is, babies neither know the concept of manipulating or bullying. I feel it’s more of communicating their needs and wanting to be close to their parents. But yes, your uncle is right – 1 minute for every year. So six months = 30 seconds? :D Perhaps you can check out this book by Elizabeth Pantley: The No-Cry Discipline Solution. Gentle ways to seek cooperation. I find it helpful.
